Insects & Mites: Biology & Control
This workshop is part of the farming and crop protection industry's Voluntary Initiative to minimise the environmental impacts of pesticides. The content is based on the City & Guilds' 2015 Arable Workshop but modified to be relevant to protected edible crops.
The course will provide an overview of the biology and behaviour of insect and mite pests, take a look at the modes of action of insecticides and provide an update on the Sustainable Use Directive.
This City & Guilds NRoSO and BASIS approved course will be run by Rob Jacobson Consultancy Ltd and will provide the full 10 points required annually to retain NRoSO membership as well as 6 BASIS points.
Integrated Pest Management: Putting theory into practice
With the changes in European Pesticide Legislation and the impending implementation of the UK's National Action Plan for the Sustainable Use Directive, there has never been a more important time for growers to understand the concept of integrated pest management (IPM). The course will examine the new legislation, provide a background to pest control strategies and look at the theory behind IPM. Delegates will then work through the most important groups of pests that attack their crops and explore appropriate chemical, biological, physical and cultural methods of managing them within a single IPM programme.
This City & Guilds NRoSO and BASIS approved course will be run by Rob Jacobson Consultancy Ltd and will provide the full 10 points required annually to retain NRoSO membership as well as 10 BASIS points.
