ADVANCES IN BIOLOGICAL CONTROL & IPM 2019The image opposite shows Dr Jacobson, Prof Bruce and Prof Walters, the past, present and future Convenors of the AAB’s IPM Group at the 2019 conference. Prof Bruce commented - “Rob’s paper, ‘IPM in protected crops: Theory into practice’, was very well received with many delegates commenting on how interesting and relevant it was to them. It fitted very well with the conference theme - ‘Addressing the Innovation Crisis’. Rob’s talk outlined success stories from the glasshouse sector showing that there is scope for reducing dependency on pesticides and implementing biological tools in real commercial grower situations”. IPM: Putting theory into practiceDr Jacobson was commissioned to organize and run this course by UK-China Training Ltd. It was attended by 15 Chinese academics from a wide range of universities and institutes. |
IPM: The 10 year planRadical changes in pest, disease and weed management will be required over the next decade to fill the gaps being left by legislative restrictions on pesticide use and the evolution of pest and disease resistance. There will be growing demand to develop new IPM solutions. |
